Assume They’re in the Room

By |2020-11-18T16:24:25-05:00November 18th, 2020|Uncategorized|

As believers, it's our responsibility to never be so out of touch with the world that we neglect the people who don't know Jesus yet or don't understand how following Christ transforms our worldview. So if you want to be a light in the darkness, you have to be okay walking into a room that is dark, and even more, you have to be aware of the hearts that are in that room so that you can lovingly speak the Truth without accidentally forcing your own point of view that might cause more harm than good. Division is a disease that will destroy but unity among believers is the cure. And that's what class was all about the week. One of our favorite parts of the Assume They're In The Room class was Somer's reminder that as Christians we have to be "In it, not of it," and what that practically looks like for us in our everyday life, our workplaces, and even our churches. . Getting after grateful by sharing ten of the businesses whose products and services enable some of the main functionality features of the swHw ministry. What they do allows us to connect and serve you on the regular, so this is our way of saying THANK YOU to each of you for what you do! (Check them out - you may find something that would be helpful in your work too!) #1: Basecamp What they say: Basecamp is more than just a project management tool — it’s an elevated way to work. Teams that switch to Basecamp become better teams. They’re more productive and better organized. They communicate better and require fewer meetings. And they’re far more efficient than before. Being better is a choice — choose Basecamp. What we say: Our team uses Basecamp daily. We have all of our months broken down into different projects with to do lists, docs/files, message boards, and group chats. You can set work hours so you don’t receive notifications during family time or when you aren’t working. This has been a game changer for us as a team! #2: DropBox What they say: These days, everything is smart—your phone, your credit card, your car, maybe even your house. [...]

What We’ll Never Forget about Narrow 2020

By |2020-11-12T22:20:49-05:00November 12th, 2020|Uncategorized|

There's just something about being together. 2020 has proven that. No matter how strong your Internet signal is or how clear the camera is, there is still a difference between being "gathered together" on Zoom and actuallybeing together. And that's why we never stopped asking God to make a way for Narrow 2020 to happen. . We are not anti-online. Obviously, there are so many of you we wouldn't know if it weren't for initially being connected through social media or email. But the majority of the time, being an online ministry is kind of like trying to have a Bible study at a night club. A Bible study at a night club is needed. Noble even. But it's noisy. It was genuinely such a gift to be able to break away from the noise and be together in a sacred space. A space where... ...faith swallowed fear. ...worship won over worry. ...love prevailed over hate. ...unity defeated division. ...and truth was louder than lies. Because God was there among us. In the name of Jesus, the enemy had to flee. And for a moment, the world fell silent. Not because the world wasn't still loud. In fact, [...]

three reminders from Jonah (for the whole family!)

By |2020-10-29T08:23:23-04:00October 29th, 2020|Uncategorized|

You can run from what God asks you to do, but you can’t run from God. Jonah was trying to “flee from the Lord’s presence” (Jonah 1:3), but you cannot run away from God. You can run away from what God asks you to do, but you can’t run away from God Himself. He is everywhere, and He knows everything. God’s glory always wins; your choices determine if you get to be a part of it. When the storm stopped after the men threw Jonah overboard, they were in awe of God and worshiped Him. Even though Jonah chose disobedience, God was still able to reveal His power and glory to those who did not know Him. Even though Jonah disobeyed, people still came to know the Lord because God’s glory always wins. God’s punishment is about repentance + restoration – not revenge. God was not after revenge on Nineveh for their evil acts. He wanted the people of Nineveh to turn from their wicked ways and turn back to Him. Once they did, He forgave them and gave them a second chance – just like He did for Jonah. If you seek God honestly, even after you make [...]
