The Cost of Control

By |2020-05-08T12:35:30-04:00February 26th, 2020|Classes, Faith, Faith-Based Leadership, Family|

Who wants to be Sally Clarkson when they grow up after yesterday's class?! 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏽‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️ We had SO much trouble choosing one quote -- (after all, she dropped bombs like "I wasn't a natural mom, but I did love Jesus. I came into motherhood out of obedience to Christ" and "The public arena is a fickle boyfriend.") But this one summarized everything she shared with us: you pick it -- parenting, ministry, business, marriage, friendship, in-laws, social media -- if control is the goal, you will always be disappointed. Members, class recording is up, and if you've found yourself wishing for someone a season ahead of you to pour into you, wish granted. Thank you, Sally! When Life Doesn’t Go As Planned

By |2020-05-08T12:35:56-04:00February 21st, 2020|Faith, Faith-Based Leadership, Family|

There I was at 29... getting dangerously close to that next milestone birthday, feeling lost and wondering desperately what in the world was going on with my life. Being 29 and single (especially in the South!) will make you question everything. It will make you question if God is paying attention to you, like He seems to be your friends. It might make you question if you screwed up along the way and if this prolonged season of singleness is just a form of punishment. It could even make you question if God loves you. Thankfully, through this string of questioning and sessions of pouring out my heart, the Lord spoke such truth to me in those low moments that forever changed the way I view life and my circumstances. Not only did it change my outlook, but it also led to unleashing some blessings He had in store for me that eventually changed my circumstances. How My Perspective Changed What became almost way too simple to me was that singleness is not that important to God. But eternity is. My relationship status on earth is not His focus. My relationship status (with the Lord) for eternity is His focus. This world has [...]

Create Your Own Momentum

By |2020-05-08T12:36:21-04:00February 19th, 2020|Classes, Faith, Faith-Based Leadership|

What is the difference between pursuing merely momentum and actively pursuing God's power? Like Michelle Myers said in class, maybe the reason we constantly find ourselves frustrated in this tension of constantly desiring more momentum is because we are expecting God-sized results without doing God-based activity. We walked through eight questions, all stemming from the first few chapters in the book of Acts, digging into HOW it was possible that the same disciples who fled when Jesus was arrested were also the same men who led the explosive growth of the local church. But here's the one question that all the other questions hang on: are you living on the right side of your testimony? When was the last time you really thought about what your life was like before Christ and how putting your faith in Him changed everything? Are you still LIVING in the power of what Christ has done in your life? P.S. Members, it's a understatement to say that you're gonna wanna catch this recording and download the companion resource ASAP. We love you! Join swHw!

Ambition is not the world’s.

By |2020-05-08T12:36:36-04:00January 23rd, 2020|Business, Classes, Faith, Faith-Based Leadership|

Michelle Myers' live class on Wednesday left us encouraged and super challenged to live our lives different than the world. We define success differently, so we should also live our lives in a way that goes hand in hand with that. She shared five points to the swHw "secret" sauce: IMPORTANT > urgent DISCIPLINE > legalism BUSY ON MISSION > busybody   OTHERS > me Solitude AND community > solitude OR community  As Michelle shared, let's channel our ambition for the Kingdom! When Michelle Myers said, “It grieves me to see ambition belong to the world,” our heads (and hearts!) exploded a little as she followed that statement up with the quote above. Ambition alone isn’t sin - our ambition separated from our one true purpose IS. This class will encourage you, inspire you, and most importantly, challenge you to take Hebrews 12:1-2 to heart so you can RUN! "Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith." This would [...]
