The Pursuit of Humility

By |2021-04-12T10:54:53-04:00April 8th, 2021|Uncategorized|

Michelle did not hold back in this weeks class on humility. It’s a hard conversation to have because as humans, we all struggle with pride. But the fact of the matter is, our pride will affect our work for the kingdom, and kingdom work means too much to us here at SWHW to stay silent. So we went for it. But how do we fight against our pride? Michelle spent the majority of class yesterday helping answer this question, using God’s Word to guide us, and a lot of practical advice. One of our favorite takeaways was the simple (but not easy!) reminder that we will have to FOCUS on increasing the Lord in our lives and decreasing ourselves. It’s completely opposite of what the world shows us, but as much as we love to believe that we are good at multitasking, or able to divide our attention, we are not. Because when we try to focus on two things, we’ll more than likely end up missing out on both. We have to pursue humility. We have to fight for humility.   So that we can live the [...]

We don't use the word "community" lightly around here. We're fully aware that online community has limits (which is why you will always hear us affirm + point you back to the local church!), but we truly enjoy getting to know each other inside SWHW. Members have our personal emails. We have real conversations inside and outside of class. And FAR beyond just the SWHW team, you will be amazed by the women you are instantly connected with. All that said, we'd really love to get to know you. Here's what's happening inside SWHW this month - join us! Happy March SWHW! Our members get access to all of these classes, resources + past archived classes. Not a member? Let's fix that! JOIN NOW FOR ACCESS

2nd Annual Virtual #BetterTogether 5K

By |2021-04-08T09:06:00-04:00March 22nd, 2021|Uncategorized|

It's that time again - the #bettertogether Virtual 5K! In a way that only God could orchestrate, last year, months before the word "pandemic" meant anything relevant, Emily Saunders of CTC reached out to see if we would be interested in partnering with them for a virtual 5K. Then...roughly a week after the virtual 5K announcement, the unimaginable happened: gyms around the country closed + races were cancelled. In initial conversations, we knew the virtual 5K would be a great fit for those itching to get back outside in warmer temps. But we never dreamed of the need it would meet with so many other fitness options put on hold. So while, praise the Lord, we are seeing the world begin to open up again, the #bettertogether Virtual 5K is back for a 2nd time, and we'd love for you to join us! Here are the details: #BetterTogether  #BetterTogether5K Event Date:  May 22, 2021 Sign Up Dates:  March 10th to 24th Training Program Start Date:  March 29th Cost: $55 (includes your race entry, your 5K-exclusive Run the Race CTC tank + keychain [will ship mid-April!], an 8-week training program by running coach Austen Coats, [...]

Pace Before Plan

At the beginning of yesterday’s Q2 planning workshop, Michelle did a quick devotion from Genesis 33:13-14. If planning is complicated, overwhelming, or discouraging (we're looking at you, 2020!) for you, Genesis 33 offers us a different approach that just might be what you need. "But Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are frail, and that the nursing flocks and herds are a care to me. If they are driven hard for one day, all the flocks will die. Let my lord pass on ahead of his servant, and I will lead on slowly, at the pace of the livestock that are ahead of me and at the pace of the children, until I come to my lord in Seir.” "children are frail...all the flocks will die" don't get blinded by possible perks and forget pushing too hard comes at a cost (and usually one that is too expensive!) "let my lord pass ahead of his servant" it's okay if someone is ahead of you determine where your heart is by asking yourself - how do you speak of those who are ahead of you - humbly or critically? "more workers into the harvest" [...]
