2020 Bible Reading Plan

By |2020-05-08T13:16:40-04:00December 20th, 2019|Uncategorized|

This is our 7th year providing a Bible reading plan, and it’s one of our very favorite things we offer as a ministry. After all, the Bible isn’t just another book. “All Scripture is God-breathed, and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16 Here are the three main things you need to know about the swHw 2020 plan: If you stick to the plan, you’ll read through the entire Bible by the end of 2021. We believe there is such tremendous value in reading the Bible from start to finish. While plans we’ve provided in the past have been one-year reading plans, we’ve been hearing from many of you that you have a desire to study deeper, which is why we’ve slowed down the pace. We’re also including some seasonal readings by reading through the gospel of John leading up to Easter and some advent readings closer to Christmas each year. Each week consists of five daily readings. Whether you’re involved in another Bible study at your church that requires additional reading, you want a few days to journal and meditate further on your reading, or you know that with two catch-up [...]

Word of the Year

By |2020-05-08T13:16:46-04:00December 6th, 2019|Uncategorized|

Can you believe it is almost 2020? Wow! I don't know about you, but 2019 felt like it flew by! Every year around this time, I start to think of my goals, plans, and dreams for the next year. I start all my dreaming and planning with prayer. I set aside a specific time, like a date with God, to talk about the previous year and the coming year. (I even put it in my calendar because It is important to me!) I believe we grow best when we are intentional to stop and look at where we’ve been with God and the path we’re headed on moving forward. In my prayer time, I talk to God about all that happened in the last year. I look over the things I prayed for, the goals I met, and yes, even the pain and loss. I examine the year in its entirety, and I express to God my gratitude, my praise, and my questions. I talk to Him about anything that seems undone or unsettled, and I lay those things before God because I am so certain that He will finish what He starts. (I need reminders of His promises! [...]

Three Working Mom Tips for Low Stress Dinners

By |2020-05-08T13:16:53-04:00November 22nd, 2019|Uncategorized|

Of all the struggles that exist for working moms, can we all agree that one of the top plaguing problems is figuring out how to get dinner on the table after being at work all day? I’m with you, friend. Same here! With a husband who’s frequently on the road and two teenage girls bouncing between school and sports, no two nights seem to look the same in our home. But that doesn’t change that dinner has to get done. Here are some tips that have worked for our family: #1: PLAN. On Saturday, I spend about 5-10 minutes talking with the kids; asking what they would like for dinner the upcoming week (My husband and I will usually just eat whatever the kids eat, only with more veggies! 😂) Together, we plan the meals based on their Monday - Friday evening schedule. For the nights with a busier schedule, we have a 10-minute meal. (More on that later!) The kids write out the menu plan for the week and pin it to the fridge (Now, they actually keep me on track with what’s for dinner!) #2: GROCERY SHOP ONLINE. Many grocery stores now offer grocery pick-up either free [...]

10 Businesses that Make Us Grateful

By |2020-05-08T13:16:58-04:00November 8th, 2019|Uncategorized|

We are getting into the Thanksgiving spirit early by sharing with you ten of the businesses whose products and services enable some of the main functionality features of the swHw ministry.  What they do allows us to connect with each of you on the regular -- so we are grateful! You might find a few you could benefit from using as well, so here we go! #1: Basecamp What they say: Basecamp is more than just a project management tool — it’s an elevated way to work. Teams that switch to Basecamp become better teams. They’re more productive and better organized. They communicate better and require fewer meetings. And they’re far more efficient than before. Being better is a choice — choose Basecamp. What we say: Our team uses Basecamp daily. We have all of our months broken down into different projects with to do lists, docs/files, message boards, and group chats. You can set work hours so you don't receive notifications during family time or when you aren't working. This has been a game changer for us as a team! #2: Canva What they say: Design anything. Publish anywhere. Use Canva’s drag-and-drop feature and professional layouts to design consistently stunning graphics. Design presentations, social [...]
