Did you know we have more recorded words of Jesus speaking about money than we do about heaven or hell? Seriously. So if understanding money meant that much to Jesus, it has to mean something to us. In the business world, more money is always better. I mean, there's never going to be a business best -seller: How to Make Less Money. But as swHw women, while we realize making money is a critical part of running any business, we must first make sure that Kingdom outcome has priority in our hearts over personal income. It's our goal as a ministry to view money as one of many resources given to us by God to be used for His glory, realizing loving it is what's evil, but that it can still be dangerous to us if we don't keep our motivations and heart in check. This month, we will be diving into what God's word says about our money and how we can use it to further His kingdom and bring Him the ultimate glory! Seeking God’s Glory Over Glamour

This morning, I [Michelle] was reading through Jesus' triumphant entry in Mark 11. Jesus entered into Jerusalem, the people shouting, "Hosanna!" It didn't stop with their exclamation of praise. They also laid their cloaks down & put palm branches down in His path. They recognized Him as God's Son, as the promised One from the line of David. No doubt, this was a moment of earthly glory. A glamorous moment in the life of Jesus. I mean, it was pretty much modern-day red carpet. Had this happened in 2016, everyone would have been snapping photos, begging for selfies, just aiming to get a glimpse of Jesus so they could tell their friends, "I was there! I saw him!" That was Sunday. Tuesday, the plot to kill Jesus began (Mark 14:1-2). By Thursday evening, he was publicly betrayed by one of his twelve most trusted followers. He was arrested. He was put on multiple trials, shuffled between the high priest, the Sanhedrin, Herod and Pilate. He was scourged and beaten. One of his inner circle, Peter, denied Him three times. What Are We Missing When We Criticize Other Christians?

I hopped on social media Saturday morning (thankfully, after a strong cup of coffee and powerful devotional time with the Lord), and I was shocked to see several different posts, shaming Candace Cameron Bure, for her new show, Fuller House. It wasn’t just about her character’s choices on the show. Or about her wardrobe. Or about her choice to work in a worldly industry. But all over my Facebook newsfeed, believers were picking those actions apart and somehow not just speaking poorly of her behavior, but had crossed over to attacking her salvation, claiming someone who had made her “mistakes” couldn’t possibly be a Christian. Couple these posts with mud-slinging of every political candidate running for President, and I just decided to delete Facebook from my phone for the day. I tried to walk away. Is Our Gratitude Rooted In The Unshakeable?

"Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakeable, let us be thankful and please God by worshipping Him with holy fear and awe." - Hebrews 12:28 Unshakeable. That's the word that keeps coming back to me as I've reflected on this verse over the last few days. Think about it: there's nothing in our lives that's unshakeable except for our God and His Kingdom. To be clear, unshakeable doesn't mean we'll never experience pain or failure in this world. But despite the pain. Despite the failure. Despite the hardships. Despite the suffering. We have received a Kingdom that is unshakeable. A Kingdom that cannot be stripped away, destroyed or diminished. The gift of His unshakeable Kingdom is enough to praise Him. It's enough to be grateful. Yet sometimes, it's so easy for us to put more of our confidence into inferior sources. We find security and comfort in things that are shakeable. Careers. Money. Stuff. Status. All of which are shakeable. Completely lacking in comparison to our great God. This week, as we journal our gratitude, let's make sure our hearts are centered on being grateful for the unshakeable gifts of His Kingdom.

The Giving Manger

The Christmas season is one of our favorite times of the year! We love the music, the colors, the festivities, and we start watching Christmas movies about halfway through October! Every family has their favorite traditions and this year I am looking forward to beginning a new tradition in our home that will be special for years to come. When a box from The Giving Manger arrived on our front door step, I couldn't wait to open the cute little package and share what was inside with my boys! It is all too easy for the Christmas season to be a time where we are self-absorbed, focusing so much on our own desires that we forget to look around us and realize the needs of others. It is ironic to see what Christmas has become when we remember its true purpose. Christmas is meant to be a day of celebration! Not a celebration of new toys and gadgets and gifts, but the celebration of our Savior.
