Let Your Kids Be a Part of Your Calling

By |2020-05-08T13:36:42-04:00October 17th, 2017|Business, Faith, Family|

As a part of the she works HIS way team, I’ve been anticipating the Narrow conference for a full year. We began planning for, praying over and talking about details long before a date was set. Our founder, Michelle, knew that this was a big part of the ministry’s future and we were all on board without hesitation. The weekend proved to be even more than we could have anticipated. I mean, you fill a room with women who love business, love to learn, and who are aching to serve Jesus well in it all, and you’ll just get to sit back and watch God move. I’m grateful for the images and content that is forever etched in my memory. Sometimes, God prepares your heart to hear something that you are totally not expecting to hear, and my momma heart is feeling so tender now in the best way. Mommas and future mommas, Somer Phoebus made this statement in her “Stop Doing List” session on Saturday, and I want you to hear it: “You don’t have to protect your children from your business.” She went on to explain that if you feel that God has called you to a [...]

Establish the Work of our Hands

By |2020-05-08T13:36:48-04:00October 12th, 2017|Business, Faith, Faith-Based Leadership|

I went into the weekend of our very first Narrow conference with an expectant heart. Quite honestly, I needed it like living water. I was longing for some time with women chasing hard after Jesus. That’s exactly what I got. And more. I think Psalm 90:17 sums up my experience at Narrow the best: “May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands.” I saw God at work in our hands this past weekend in three very special ways. Hands raised high in worship. We kicked off the conference on Friday night and concluded the conference on Saturday night with worship. And let me just say that I think I got a little glimpse of what it will be like when we are all worshiping Jesus in Heaven. No matter what we all brought to this event with us, when that band began to lift up the name of Jesus, He was the only One in the room and the only One that mattered. Hands trained to do His work. I had the opportunity to interview many attendees about their experience at Narrow, [...]

How Intentions Make or Break Your Routine

By |2020-05-08T13:37:08-04:00September 19th, 2017|Faith, Family|

Back to school, back to routine, and back to the grind! In most cases, this is a good thing. However, after living this season over and over (11 years to be exact!), I have seen in myself, as well as many of my friends, the downside of routine. Yes, the schedule-making, list-completing, “Productivity Princess” just admitted there is a downside to routine. Complacency. Discontentment. And yes, even boredom. “Wait, what? I don't think you understand how much I love routine, Somer!” Is that what’s in your head right now? Or maybe you're a woman who has always lacked the ability to find and sustain a routine - don't stop reading just yet! This is for you, too. Bottom line when it comes to routine: What we do today will affect our tomorrow, and what we did yesterday IS having an effect on today. But…routine becomes a problem when intentions are eliminated. Specifically, things come to a head when what we do becomes more important than how we obey. We stifle the Holy Spirit in the name of comfort, familiarity or pride. (You might need to go back and read those last two sentences one more time.) So how do [...]

We Think We Know Why You’ve Hesitated…

By |2017-09-13T14:22:10-04:00September 13th, 2017|Business, Faith, Faith-Based Leadership, Family|

We are less than a month from our first conference, and we still have some seats available! So if you've come up with some objection as to why you can't attend, we'd love to answer the most popular hesitations...and offer you some encouragement that might help make your decision to come spend October 6-7 with us at Narrow: I don't know anyone else coming... That's exactly why you should come! One of the hardest parts of being a Christian woman in business is how isolated we so often feel. You may come alone, but you will NOT leave alone! You'll leave resourced, encouraged, and with an entourage of prayer warriors in your corner! (Just think, you're going to be in a room full of YOU's!) I don't think I can afford a ticket... Have you prayed about it? As business women, we often try to make decisions on our own. We never want anyone to make an unwise decision, but we also know that this conference will position you for growth - both spiritually and professionally. So we're not telling you to ignore your bank account. We're just asking you to pray about it! I'm at the beginning of [...]

Top Five Tips for Managing Customer Feedback

By |2020-05-08T13:37:25-04:00September 12th, 2017|Business|

Customer Feedback. Between Facebook reviews, websites that exist specifically for rating your customer experience, and not to mention, social media instant feedback, it’s never been easier for businesses today to get feedback from their customers. But how do you know the difference between a good idea and one person’s personal preference? Or what negative feedback do you take to heart, and what feedback do you ignore? I’m so glad you asked. Here are my top five tips to help you manage customer feedback…without losing your mind. Tip #1: No name, no worries. People are really brave behind a computer screen. If someone has left a negative customer review on my website, but they don’t attach their name to it, I immediately rule it out. If they aren’t brave enough to put their name to their opinion, they aren’t looking for me to resolve their issue. They just had a bad day, and they chose to take it out on me. Hit that delete button, and go about your day! Tip #2: Pay attention to tone. Yes, even if it’s an email! Here’s the easiest difference between a critique and a critic: A critique is a suggestion, where the goal [...]
