The Right Questions to Ask When You Miss the Goal

By |2020-05-08T13:28:35-04:00December 7th, 2017|Branding, Business, Faith|

Like many of you, I set goals for myself every year. I usually hit most of them, and celebrating those wins is so fun. But every year, there’s also at least one goal that gets missed. So if you’re here at the end of 2017, and all you can see is the inevitable failure of not reaching a goal you set for yourself almost a year ago, I’d like to give you four questions to ask so you can turn this failure into growth. (Fellow John Maxwell readers know this concept of “failing forward” well!) But before we dig in, can I just take a second to remind you of one of my favorite Dave Ramsey truth bombs? “Success is just a pile of failure that you are standing on.” Failure is a package deal with winning. You won’t win every time. Every idea won’t be your best. The timing won’t always be right. Something unexpected will derail your best efforts. But the only way you really lose…is if you fail to learn from your mistakes. If you pretend it never happened. Or if you give up because it didn’t work on your first try. So here are the [...]

What is the swHw Business Tracker NOT?

By |2020-05-08T13:38:36-04:00November 27th, 2017|Branding, Business|

Last time, I told you all about what the tracker is. So I thought today, I would share with you what it’s NOT. You ready? Let’s go! It’s NOT a planner. You’ll need a place where you can keep your schedule (if you have a lot of appointments), your kids’ school schedule, church activities, etc. And you won’t find room for any of those, with the exception of a few key dates for your business every month, inside the swHw Business Tracker. This is not designed to organize your life. It’s designed to track business progress and keep you laser focused on doing business God’s way. It’s NOT a general goal-setting tool. We believe in being well-rounded when it comes to goals. You should set goals that incorporate your marriage, your family, your health, etc. But the only goals you’ll set inside the swHw Business Tracker pages are business related. Again, not because we believe setting goals in other areas aren’t worthy endeavors. It’s just not the point of the swHw Business Tracker. It’s NOT a shortcut. Inside the pages, you’ll find many tips (particularly in the Guide section!) that will help you run your business in ways that [...]

5 Reasons Your Home Office is Failing You

By |2020-05-08T13:36:26-04:00November 14th, 2017|Business, Family|

You don’t really have one. You think you do, but the corner of the catch all room or the dining room table will not work. Create a space for you to work. A space that is clean, clutter free, and all yours. It doesn’t have to be big! It doesn’t even have to be a room, but it has to be a place where you are able to “escape” and focus. I have always sacrificed a formal living room or dining room for my office space. If I have to work at home, I must have a place conducive to productivity! You’re not a home office kinda person. My husband is a pastor, and because we are still a mobile church, the entire staff shares a loft area on top of a relative’s garage. That’s right, more than a dozen people cram into this space to “work.” Needless to say, it’s not a place that provides the proper atmosphere for studying, so each of the pastors get a study day at home. Kent CANNOT work from home. He will tell you himself when he tries to, he ends up eating all day and falling asleep if he sits down [...]

End the Glam, Guide the Grind, Give God the Glory

By |2020-05-08T13:36:32-04:00November 9th, 2017|Branding, Business, Faith, Faith-Based Leadership|

“Buy followers from us for your social media account! Make everyone else think they’re missing out.” “Don’t re-invent the wheel! Just duplicate this process, and you’ll bring in money every month.” “With us, you set flexible work hours. Work when you want, where you want, and still score a paycheck!” That’s the world we live in, right? Everywhere you turn, someone is trying to teach you how to make more money with less work. They hook you with a shortcut. And not just any shortcut. With just a few “easy” payments, you can bypass some of the hard trenches of business ownership. Or so they claim. Today, it’s time to get real. I’m tired of the false claims and cheap promises. Business ownership is not easy. And anyone who tells you that it is wants something from you more than they want something for you.  Is business ownership worth it? Yes. Would I trade what I do for any other job? Absolutely not. But it’s not easy. Business ownership is not fancy trips, cool websites, styled photoshoots, gaining “followers” and constant approval and affirmation. (Although, that’s easily the perception on social media!) But business ownership, especially if you’re here [...]

Business with a Ministry Mindset

By |2020-05-08T13:36:38-04:00October 26th, 2017|Uncategorized|

Y’all. My heart - so full it could have exploded! From worshipping and serving, to praying and learning – Narrow was everything and more than I had expected. I’d love to share some of my favorite nuggets from this year’s conference with you: This team and community is family. I’m not sure if you know this – but many of us on the She Works HIS Way team had never met in person until the day before the conference! Would you have guessed it?! While we had been in many virtual conversations, we didn’t hug the necks of one another or hold hands in prayer until we arrived for Narrow. This was also the case for many of the attendees. I can’t tell you how many times I heard “She’s on my team and we’ve NEVER met in person!”  Stop and think about how cool that is! We were made to be in community with one another not just spiritually, but physically as well. I don’t know about you – but there is healing and excitement through a hug! A sense of belonging. Comfort. It reminded me to position myself in front of people – in person and on [...]
