3 Ways to De-Clutter Your Desk

By |2020-05-08T15:46:48-04:00September 13th, 2016|Business|

This blog isn't about inspiring you to just be more organized and pick up after yourself - it's about inspiring you to create a work atmosphere that allows you to perform at maximum efficiency, which will then result in being at the top of your game! Here's 3 ways to De-clutter your desk... and probably your brain! 1.      Keep 1 notebook that stores ALL of your notes, to-do lists, and anything else that you would typically turn an old piece of mail over to jot down. Seriously, take a look at your desk! How much of the clutter is random pieces of paper that you're not even sure why you have?! I would bet a lot. I use 1 notebook that is categorized by date, rather than topic. For example, as I write this blog, I have a to-do list going, just wrote down an important phone number for a new client, added some notes from my personal development, and jotted down some key talking points for the webcast I'm leading on Thursday. ALL in the same notebook. It's like a "work diary." After my notebooks are full I file them away in my office. I go [...]

Confidence vs. Pride

By |2020-05-08T15:47:09-04:00August 25th, 2016|Faith|

First of all, let’s establish that these are 2 very different things that somehow often get confused with one another. Secondly, is it possible to exemplify confidence without being prideful? Yes! When your hope is in Christ, you gain confidence! When your hope is in YOU, you will ALWAYS struggle with pride. But if pride is an issue for us, how do we deal with that issue and put that sin to death? Prayer! Big, messy, embarrassing, fall on your face before your heavenly Father prayer! We have to beg God to let us understand (as much as our human minds can) the depths Jesus went to to save us, leaving HEAVEN to come to earth in human form, then living a sinless life, and finally dying a horrendous death on the cross. But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 All for me. All so that I could live with Him for eternity. All because He LOVES me. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Luke 19:10 If we can get even a glimpse of this [...]

Stewarding our Time for God’s Glory

By |2020-05-08T15:47:52-04:00July 28th, 2016|Business, Faith-Based Leadership|

When time is mentioned throughout scripture, it almost always reminds me of how misconstrued our idea of time really is. Our time on earth is so short. Like a vapor of smoke that vanishes (James 4:14.) My husband is a student pastor of 16 years and often uses a video by Francis Chan to help our students visually grasp our “timeline” of existence as humans. Francis has a lengthy rope that goes from one end of the very large stage to the other and he asked the students to imagine it went on forever. On the end of the rope he is holding there was about 3-4 inches of red tape wrapped around the rope. Francis then explains that the very small area with red tape represents our time on earth. This tiny little portion on a never ending rope? That’s crazy! You see, as short and insignificant as our time on earth may seem, our entire eternity is decided by it, which makes it incredibly significant. Our lifetime on earth is insignificantly significant - yep, it’s a thing. Insignificant in terms of time as we understand it, but SO significant in terms of the responsibility God has given [...]

Top 3 Lessons I Wish I Learned Before Launching a Brick & Mortar Business

By |2020-05-08T15:49:45-04:00July 12th, 2016|Business|

1. A Brick and Mortar doesn't have to put you in debt! Everyone is looking for the next big idea and the next great start up. A lot of people I run into actually have some pretty awesome ideas! The problem is, they don't have the money to get their idea off the ground. Some entrepreneurs spend years raising money before they get to open the doors of their business. I can’t even imagine that. (Impatient much?!)  I do realize that there are many business models that require an upfront cost. For example, most franchises require thousands of dollars up front and I’m not saying they are a bad option. However, this advice is for those of you that have an idea for a brick and mortar that is your own, that has the ability to be scaled. For instance, I wanted to open a fitness studio/gym. I was very aware of the need for it in our community and was fairly confident that I could get people excited about it. The advice I received about the next step blew my mind. I was told to either start pitching to investors or go to the bank with a 20 [...]
