Why Unity is Imperative

By |2021-12-30T16:59:04-05:00January 3rd, 2022|Uncategorized|

On this weeks episode Somer asks Michelle to share her heart on UNITY which is imperative to us at She Works His Way. Because we live in a world full of division, Michelle felt a deep desire to look at Biblical unity more closely. She wanted to understand what it is, why it matters, and why we are so quick to divide. This conversation will give you both spiritual and practical advice to help you better pursue unity with other believers. Some of our favorite moments from today's episode: “Knowing the importance of unity is different than practicing the importance of unity.” -MICHELLE MYERS “You cannot be unified by yourself, it requires others to be with you.” -MICHELLE MYERS “When you think unity is only possible with other believers who only believe exactly what you believe you create something it was never intended to be. You become unified over something that isn’t Jesus.” -MICHELLE MYERS + SOMER PHOEBUS "We have to protect and prioritize unity instead of our preferences and personal opinion." -MICHELLE MYERS [...]

December Q+A Part II – On the Podcast

By |2023-09-25T17:40:43-04:00December 20th, 2021|Uncategorized|

Here are the questions Michelle and Somer answered in Part 2 of the December Q&A... I have trouble navigating between loving people and doing my work for free. Can we talk about that? I'm on the verge of burnout, how can I prevent going over? I'm done. Totally burnt out. How can I get back to serving where I am joyfully? How can I get my husband to be better at communicating his emotions? I desire community but can't find anyone else who desires it. Help! And here are a few of our favorite takeaways: "If you have the financial freedom to be generous with your work, that's a gift. Give it away." -MICHELLE MYERS "Love is not a handout, love is effort so you can love people lavishly who pay for your work." -MICHELLE MYERS "Boundaries are for keeping God close, not for keeping people out." -MICHELLE MYERS in the SWHW Gospel Definitions Resource (SWHW Network, this is available for you in your online portal!) "Eternal rest is coming, so that should make being tired [...]

In today's episode, Somer and Michelle answer a few questions sent in by you, the SWHW Network. And spoiler alert: they're really good! Here's what we cover in Part 1 of our December Q&A: How do I handle the people that are the most difficult in my life? How do I know what my purpose is or the spiritual gift that God wants me to use? Any suggestions on resources for budgeting? What are your techniques for turning the conversation away from politics with friends and family? What can I pray and are there practical ways for me to stay focused? A few of our favorite takeaways: “Sometimes difficult people have been put in our lives because we need to show them the love of Jesus.” -SOMER PHOEBUS “You can handle difficult people if you are rooted and grounded in the Lord.” -SOMER PHOEBUS “Love God, love people, make disciples. If those are the three things you aim to do everyday, you will find your specific assignment.” -MICHELLE MYERS “It’s about walking with the Spirit so [...]

260 Day Bible Reading Plan

By |2022-08-23T16:00:39-04:00December 6th, 2021|Uncategorized|

This is our 9th year providing a Bible reading plan, and it’s one of our very favorite things we offer as a ministry. After all, the Bible isn’t just another book. “All Scripture is God-breathed, and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16 Here are a couple main things you need to know about the swHw Bible Reading plan: If you stick to the plan , you’ll read through the entire Bible! We believe there is such tremendous value in reading the Bible from start to finish. This plan provides a 260 day plan, so it accounts for five readings each week if you’d like to read through the Bible in one year. Why the extra two days each week? Whether you’re involved in another Bible study at your church that requires additional reading, you want a few days to journal and meditate further on what you’ve already read, or you know that with two catch-up days every week, you’ve got a greater chance to not get too far behind if you miss a day here and there -- we have found our 5 day a week plans have the highest finish [...]
