Most days, you’ll have to actively choose to make God greater and to see Heaven — even when what is right in front of your face is earth. When Michelle walked us through Colossians 3 in class this week, all of the lightbulbs went off. It’s not just about shifting our perspective, it’s about sharing God’s perspective. Only then will we live our lives doing the things that matter.

Colossians 3:2 puts it this way: “Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.”
We must aim for God’s perspective, not merely what we can see. Here’s a quick exercise Michelle gave in class:
How does God view and what is God’s desire for…
  • Your family?
  • Your church?
  • Your job?
  • Your paycheck?
  • Your stuff?
  • Your house?
  • Your enemy?
  • Your boss?
  • Your hard situation?
  • Your thought life?
  • Your time?
  • The gifts He gave you?
  • Your attitude?
  • Your sin?

Think of this list as a starting point. There’s not a single area of our lives that we shouldn’t aim to have His perspective. So wrote down His view and His desire for each line item, then pray and ask God to help you see it that way too.
