Three Steps to Eliminating Fear

By |2020-05-08T13:38:03-04:00August 15th, 2017|Faith, Health|

How often do we get excited about a new idea or a creative concept, only to be paralyzed by fear? Fear so big that it stops us dead in our tracks. After working with many female entrepreneurs and leaders, it’s clear to me that the number one thing that trips us up most often is fear and anxiety. But here’s the truth: How we handle fear is precisely what separates the mediocre leader from the incredibly successful leader.  This doesn’t mean successful leaders are never afraid. But they don’t let their fear lead. As followers of Christ, seeking to do His work, we cannot be held captive by fear. We have to understand that if He has called us to it, He will carry and sustain us through it. Here are three ways that can help eliminate fear so that we can be about His work:   Purify your intentions. We’ve heard the saying “it’s the thought that counts,” but I want to take the business version of that and apply it here for us today: It’s your intentions that matter! When you’re making a tough decision or moving forward on a big project, you have to stop and [...]

Six Days to a Clutter FREE Home

Clutter is the worst. You may claim that it truly doesn't bother you, but I would ask you the same question I ask my Productivity Academy students who tell me that: Have you ever tried life without clutter? When I finally get them to commit to de-cluttering just their workspace, a light bulb moment happens, and they fall in love with their organized, de-cluttered space. No one has ever said “I really wish I hadn't done that, Somer!” These are some of the benefits they notice immediately: They don't dread sitting down to work. They are more productive. They are less distracted. They complete more tasks instead of jumping from one task to another. They sleep better. (Interesting, right?) They realize they didn’t need nearly as much stuff as they thought they did. So I’m challenging you to change up your typical Spring Cleaning regimen. Skip the windows and baseboards, and instead, purge like you never have before! Think you don't have time for a project like this? Give me 2-3 hours a day for six days, (You can break them up, doing one hour in the morning and two hours at night even!) and see what happens. THE [...]

Stepping Out into God’s Calling

Just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. - Romans 5:19 Throughout Scripture, we read accounts of how people’s obedience affected not only their own lives but often an entire nation. The greatest example of this is Jesus Himself. Christ’s obedience to death on the cross made a way for us to be called children of God. Likewise, our choices can have a lasting impact on both our own lives and the lives of the people around us. Our choices will not only impact our own lives, but they could also have a lasting impact on generations to come. Just look at the story of Adam and Eve, for example. They made one poor choice and disobeyed God, and the world as God originally created it was forever changed. On the flip side, good choices can also affect generations to come. If we look at Noah’s choice to listen to God and build the ark, we can safely say that this wise step of obedience had lasting results. If we would stop and take a moment to think [...]
