This is our 7th year providing a Bible reading plan, and it’s one of our very favorite things we offer as a ministry. After all, the Bible isn’t just another book. All Scripture is God-breathed, and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16

Here are the three main things you need to know about the swHw 2020 plan:

If you stick to the plan, you’ll read through the entire Bible by the end of 2021.

We believe there is such tremendous value in reading the Bible from start to finish. While plans we’ve provided in the past have been one-year reading plans, we’ve been hearing from many of you that you have a desire to study deeper, which is why we’ve slowed down the pace. We’re also including some seasonal readings by reading through the gospel of John leading up to Easter and some advent readings closer to Christmas each year.

Each week consists of five daily readings.

Whether you’re involved in another Bible study at your church that requires additional reading, you want a few days to journal and meditate further on your reading, or you know that with two catch-up days every week, you’ve got a greater chance to not get too far behind if you miss a day here and there, our plan gives you five readings each week. You can do this!

The power isn’t in the plan OR your pace, but simply being in God’s presence.

We said it already, buy let’s say it one more time: there’s nothing wrong with reading the Bible through in a year over and over again. But just in case you need the reminder, there’s nothing wrong with slowing down your pace so you have time to dig a little deeper either. Or speeding up if you’ve got extra time and are hungry to know the whole story. Feel free to use our plan, but don’t miss the opportunity to challenge yourself if you’ve read the Bible through several times already. Grab a study Bible or a commentary, slow your pace down, and go a little deeper. Or do a speed read to be amazed how every word fits together in such a way that leaves you in awe that every single word of It is true.

Whether you stay on course, slow down, or speed up, we’re rooting for you!

Bottom line: You’ll never regret the time you spend reading and meditating on God’s Word.

Reminder: our Bible reading plan is now synced up with the she works HIS way app! Monday – Friday, the app will update with the day’s Scripture reading as well as a top takeaway from a swHw teammate.

We’ve also structured the design of the Bible reading plan so you can print it and fold it in half to fit in your Bible, so you always have an easy reference of your next reading.

To the woman who fears she lacks discipline:

There’s no wrong way to spend time with God… except to not spend time with Him at all. It’s not failure” if you need to read less each day or it takes you longer than a year to get through the plan. You don’t need a candle, a pretty cup of coffee, and perfect silence to read. It counts if you read on your phone, if you read while a baby crawls on your lap, or if you listen to today’s reading on Audible from a version recorded in the UK so you get the Bible and a British accent. Don’t let thinking it has to look a certain way keep you from spending time with God.

To the woman who fears she will approach her daily reading as a task:

If you have a bend toward rules vs. relationship, you might benefit from a slower pace and journaling what you’re learning. Reading the Bible is one of God’s clearest revelations of His character to us. The Bible is the story of what He’s done, what He’s doing, and what He will do in the future. Give yourself some layers of accountability to read for comprehension, understanding, and transformation – and then, you’ll see your Bible reading not as something on your to-do list, but as a welcome interruption from the world to spend time with your Creator.

Let’s do this, swHw — we love digging into His Word with you!
